Ground Check Relay for trailing cable

Ground Check Relay for trailing cable

Ground Check Relay for trailing cable

(OP)
Looking for thoughts and comments on the application of a ground check relay to monitor the condition of the grounding conductor on a 12,400V system feeding a sand pit dredge with a trailing cable.

The installation is in the USA.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Ground Check Relay for trailing cable

I have seen two different types of trailing cables used with ground check.

One style of cable has the ground check wire inside the cable.

The second style of cable which I was told is common is europe has the ground check wire under the outter protective jacket.

The second style seems to have the added benifit of the cable does not have to be severly damaged for the ground check relay to pick up and trip the circuit.

RE: Ground Check Relay for trailing cable

In the past we had good results with Atkinson ground monitor
