HYSYS Selection of Property Package

HYSYS Selection of Property Package

HYSYS Selection of Property Package

(OP)
Can anyone post a link to a website with a detailed explanation of which HYSYS property package is recommended for which types of fluids?  My google search bogs down with a large number of sites showing how to select a property package (and not much explanation of which one to select).  I'm personally only familiar with Peng-Robinson & ASME Steam.

My simulation has following components:  Water, N2, CO2, CO, H2, H2S, O2, ethanol, minor organic solids

Thanks!

RE: HYSYS Selection of Property Package

process simulators are quite complex tools to initialize and run, if you are not familiar with those models or the operating of your software I would suggest to consult a process engineer, read a good book or the operating manual where there is a good explanation...
For these reasons and simple problems (as those related to a design/rating of a valve) I prefer simple tools as Prode Properties which includes all the models you mentioned and are very easy and immediate to use...

RE: HYSYS Selection of Property Package

if the CO2 is say over 20%, modified peng robison might be a good choice.

For the records I did find a more detailed explanation of property package selection in Appendix A of the Simulation Basis Guide: http://itll.colorado.edu/HYSYSDoc/Doc/HYSYS/SimBasis.pdf
Also I didn't intend to post this in valve engineering forum - whups!  It should be in Chemical Plant Design or Process Engineering Forum.

RE: HYSYS Selection of Property Package

I think what Paolo meant was - that in order to select property package you will benefit from a background in chemical engineering. Not to say that you cant get the knowledge otherwise - but there is a risk when using computer software as "black boxes" - your chances of spotting obvious and less obvious erroneous results becomes lower.

Best regards

Morten
