Upsetting Graphics Issue

Upsetting Graphics Issue

Upsetting Graphics Issue

(OP)
I almost can not take it anymore.  This graphics issue is driving me nuts.  When I single LMB on an item in my assembly I get the standard options box that pops up, no problem.  However, if I try to zoom or rotate only the area that the pop up box covers rotates or zooms until I press QTRL-Q.  I have already uninstalled the video card driver and made sure it is the newest supported versin as well.

RE: Upsetting Graphics Issue

Recommended driver for your system is 7.15.11.8265.
Is this what you have?

It could be:
-Ethernet issues
-Server issues
-Sometimes working with dual monitors
-Too many apps open/running/both

RE: Upsetting Graphics Issue

Lots of controversy with the Quadro cards in the latest SolidWorks releases.  I built my system just about two years ago (ready for an overhaul) and switched then from Quadro to ATI's FireGL card.  No problems like I see on the forums others are having with Quadro cards.  And ATI used to be the card you didn't want to have.

Things change quick in technology--not sure if the Quadro is really the problem in your case, but I've seen lots of people with similar issues.  Try the driver Chris mentioned above.

RE: Upsetting Graphics Issue

If you have the Aero graphics disabled, enable it.

Also go to Control Panel > Ease of Access Center > Make Keyboard Easier to Use, and check the box for Underline keyboard shortcuts.

I can't offer a guarantee that  either of those settings will cure your problem, but they have been known to correct graphics glitches in Vista systems.

RE: Upsetting Graphics Issue

BodyBagger,

Turn ON Windows Aero as CBL suggests.

I had the symptoms you describe on a couple of my Vista systems.

Turning Windows Aero back on fixed it for me.

Cheers,

RE: Upsetting Graphics Issue

Anna ... what is the latest on the underscore shortcut? Should it be on or off?

RE: Upsetting Graphics Issue

On my Windows 7 machine with SW2009 SP5 and SW2010 SP1 I do not have a check mark in the box.  I can't remember if I changed that when I set up the system with the final release version of Windows 7.

Cheers,

I have implemented the recommended changes and will report back on the results.  Thank you.

So far so good.  It appears that turning Aero "on" solved the issue.  Thanks much.

RE: Upsetting Graphics Issue

Scott,

Who recommends to turn off the Aero option?

I have the same graphics glitches if Aero is OFF on both my Vista and Windows 7 machines.

The suggestion to turn ON the Aero graphics came from Jim Wilkenson or Ron Bates of SolidWorks when I was having issues with my Windows Vista computer last year.

Cheers,

There are 3 issues that show turning off is a workaround to some issues. one is for 2008, but it still shows there are bugs having on just the same as having off.

Followup report.......4 days and still no issues wth that frustrating problem.  I would say case closed but I know what would happen if I said that :), so I won't.

So far this has worked for me. Had to reboot to get the settings to take.
