Vista Finding Files on a Server

Vista Finding Files on a Server

Sorry if that has been addressed, maybe I am the only one that cant figure out search funtions.

I am running Inventor2009 and windows vista (and will be upgrading to windows 7 shortly), but the search function will not find files on the server.  XP has no problem with the location of these files.

Our file structure keeps all the inventor files and autocad files in one file then separated into sub folders based on part numbers.

The main folder "Company" then has sub folders 01, 02, 03, so on and so on.  I was searching for file "02-259."  If i open the folder "Company" then in the upper right type 02 it finds all the files starting with 02 (including 02-259 file/print and auto cad if there is one), but if i type 02-25 or 02-259 it only finds old versions of the files "02-259.0010".

Anyone know what im doing wrong?  Can server locations be set up as indexed locations?  Do I just have to put up with this and hope windows 7 can find them?

This has been driving me nuts for about 3 months now but for some reason i didnt lose it till today.

RE: Vista Finding Files on a Server

Try using wildcard operators (?, *), e.g. search with 02*

Thanks for the help the asterisk works, but also finds the old version files (not a big deal).  Replacing the dash with a space only returns the current files.  That doesnt make any sense to me, but i can again find files on our server.

However, if anyone else is having this problem there are a couple options for the solutions.
