hi guys
I am involving in design of pentane storage tank and a condenser for it.It should be on top of pentane storage tank as per process data sheet.could you please give me an advice that how can i support this condenser on top of Tank? Since this is shell and tube Exchanger ,how do i facilitate it ,s future maintenance.

The tank vent condenser is commonly found in many process plants. There are several successful configurations, but the two I have most commonly found are:
- Tank Nozzle Supported: This is typically a smaller S&T condenser mounted vertically and supported by the tank. The S&T diameter is typically less than ~25% of the tank diameter. The tank nozzle is reinforced and gusseted. Differential expansion between the HX and the tank is not an issue.
- Floor Supported and inclined: This configuration is used on larger diameter/ heavier weight condensers. The HX is on a horizontal axis, inclined about 15-20 degrees (condensate drained back to the tank) and floor supported. Expansion joints between the HX and the tank are used for expansion

How big is your exchanger(diameter, length & weight)?
About fifteen years ago I was involved in a project where we had two very large & tall (60 meters Dia x 40 meters tall +/-) Dome roof tanks with a requirement for a Vapor Recovery Chiller mounted so as to free drain into the top of the tanks. The vapor lines off the tanks sloped up to the Chiller and the line with the condensed fluid sloped to free drain back to the top of the tanks.
We designed a combination stair tower/vertical pipe rack/Chiller support structure located between the two tanks. We then designed bridge trusses that spanned from the tower to the center platform on the tanks where all the connections were located. The bridge truss carried the primary access platform to the tank top plus all the required piping.
Maybe an idea worth considering.

This is type 1 configuration (in reply of MJCronin).4 m condensore on 50 meter dia Tank.shall i reinforeced roof plate and install exchanger on roof reinforecment .or bolt it directly on roof plate!?is there any refrences which can i use it ?
