Offshore pipeline: Bends

Offshore pipeline: Bends

Offshore pipeline: Bends

(OP)
Dear all,

I'm writing a SoW for a FEED Design of a pipeline system and I'm listing the standards to be used for design.

My question is about 5D induction bends:
Is there any standard that covers this item (for example in terms of desing, material, construction and testing)?

In particular I'm interested in bends made by CLAD / lined and CRA.

Thak you

RE: Offshore pipeline: Bends

You can buy 5D as a "standard" ell radius.

ISO 15590-1 or ASME B16.49 (cherry picking from each would make a superb specification!)

You won't line a 5D bend with CRA.  You will start with either mill clad or shop weld overlaid mother pipe.  The bend will have to be heat treated after bending which could affect the CRA layer; so, include an appropriate corrosion test as part of the bending procedure qualification.

You might want to look at ASME B16.49 which is a relatively new standard on Induction Bends.  it won't help you on the clad issue but check it out anyway.
