Predicting Water Content of Natural Gas

Predicting Water Content of Natural Gas

(OP)
Hi All!
I need some help on predicting the water content in Natural gas (Say just C1,C2 and C3 only). I have used Charts (also with sp.gravity corrections earlier) but I need some mathematical correlation / equation so i can use it in a computation procedure. Do you know one? or where i can find one? Need not be very accurate, just a preliminary prediction of the sat water content, given its Temp, Press, gas composition, sp gravity(if needed). Thanks :)

RE: Predicting Water Content of Natural Gas

You can try correlation proposed by Institute of Gas Technology, Chicago.

Could you please be more specific???
I scoured the GTI website, but in vain.
I would really appreciate if you could send me a link.

Thanks

RE: Predicting Water Content of Natural Gas

I have a spreadsheet based on the GPSA curves for water content of natural gas, where there is a correlation provided for the water content. If you send me your email address I'll send you a copy.

RE: Predicting Water Content of Natural Gas

The maximum possible moisture is at saturation.  Find the water vapour pressure at the natural gas feed temperature and then calculate moisture as:

mositure (mf)= vp of water/(pt-vp water); pt = gas total pressure.

I hope it is clear.

RE: Predicting Water Content of Natural Gas

regarding curves for natural gas, i would find  a calculation. i need to verify water content at 3500 to 5000 psi and down to -40f,,where can i get graph, are there any posted anywhere on the web..send link or site adress

RE: Predicting Water Content of Natural Gas

There is a formula on GPA Reference Bulletin 181-86, but you have to reference a couple of look-up tabels to accurately use.
