A.S.M.E code case 2235-9

A.S.M.E code case 2235-9

A.S.M.E code case 2235-9

(OP)
i have been hearing alot of rumors lately that 2235-9 UT in lieu of RT will be added to the 2010 addenda,is this true?

RE: A.S.M.E code case 2235-9

It will probably happen from my vantage point.

RE: A.S.M.E code case 2235-9

RE: A.S.M.E code case 2235-9

B31.3 Code case 184 covers the same topic and states it is valid until issue of 2010 Code. I presume then it will be incorporated into the main body of the code and Owners will be given free choice between RT and UT. Maybe same for CC 2235 and ASME VIII Divs 1 and 2?

I wonder if ASME V will be suitably updated?

RE: A.S.M.E code case 2235-9

Yes, Section V will be updated.

Keep in mind this, once this code case is adopted in Section I, whichever volumetric examination method is selected will need to be used throughout fabrication. This means if a fabricator uses RT and repairs are required during fabrication, UT cannot be used. IF UT is selected, it must be used until fabrication is completed.
