Can someone tell me why ASTM A 576 does not have the mechanical requirements in the spec.

RE: ASTM A 576 - Mechanical Requirements
This usually means that the ASTM body belived that mechanical properties that were important would be covered by other standards or specifications. The Scope states that the bars are intended for further processing (forging, heat treating, etc..) that would change the mechanical properties, so they really aren't important to the standard.

The MTR also shows it as being 1018 HR Bar and ASTM A29. Is this the specification for the further processing you mention.
