fastener_assembly

On presenatation at siemes last year on nx6 I saw the fastener assembly / reuse libary - nice . Now I want to use it with the last machinery libary at a customize environment but the fastener assembly config window is empty - nothing to find in the docs about but how do I get it to work?
thx in ad

RE: fastener_assembly

We can assume that you've properly installed (using the install tool provided) your NX Machinery Libraries, correct?  If so, have you tried adding fasteners manually from the Resource Bar 'Reuse Library' tab and did this work OK?

Also check in your...

C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Unigraphics Solutions\NX6

...folder to see if there is a file located there by the name of 'FastenerAssemblyCongifuration.krx'.  If not then it would appear that there is a problem somewhere since the system will normally create this file automatically the first time you start your NX 6.0 session after installing any of the NX Machinery Libraries.

ReuseLib tab appears -
the reuse lib is working on single screws for example. The files are located on c:\ugsshare\NX6\NXParts\Machinery-Library\   installed with the machinery libary tool. The customersdefault on reuselib is custumized - the default setting  Standard Parts|$UGII_BASE_DIR/ugii/Reuse Library/Standard Parts  is changed to parts|c:\ugsshare\NX6\NXParts\Machinery-Library\. Now when I start the fastener configuration - the dialogs are empty...
I think the default FastenerAssemblyConfiguration.krx HoleFastenerMap.krx ReuseLibraryFasteners.krx is missing and not created by the machinery lib install tool . Is there something special to know / do - to get those three *.krx files?
thx in ad

RE: fastener_assembly

To start with, I would remove the last "\" from your Customer Default customized reuse library pathname.

Also have you done a search of your system to see if you can actually find any of those .krx files?  Does your configuration include a '\UGII\Reuse Library\Standard Parts' folder?  If so, look there for the .krx files.

Also, start a new session of NX and then go to...

Help -> NX Log File

...and when the listing window opens do a text search on...

UGII_MACHINERY_LIBRARY

If you find the entry above, where is it pointing?

hey John,
I started looking for UGII_MACHINERY_LIBRARY in the log file.
I cannot find it , can you explain what this var does -?
thx ... again again, John

RE: fastener_assembly

Try pointing this to the same place where you have pointed the Customer Default path as I suspect that this is where the system is going to be looking for the .krx files (the customer default setting is just to define and populate the Reuse Library tab on the Resource Bar).

ok - nice John
works fine . Is there a tool to generate the three krx files (- I have edited the default -)and change the folderstructure /-classification
thx

RE: fastener_assembly

I'd just copy the ones the install placed in the '\UGII\Reuse Library\Standard Parts' folder.

thank you John,
thats much  more what the GTac told me winky smile
also thanks on the stack update question.
Problems I still have whats the best way to control the
partfamily children and their save folder.
A problem with the load option(new session) - when one of the children of a fasterner assy is not found the complete stack is left unloaded.
