REF542+ with sicam pas in 61850 problems.

REF542+ with sicam pas in 61850 problems.

(OP)
Hello all,
i am working in a 61850 project where i have to connect ABB ref542plus relays on a SICAM PAS full server. I extract the CID file from the SCL tool and i imported to the SICAM configurator. When i start the Operation and try to establish the link with the relay i get the error: "incorect incompatibility key". I verified the CID file in 61850.com and it is OK. The CID file contains more than one IED. When i import all of them i get the errors attached. The problem is still there even when i choose to import only the vasJ1j08RE IED. The ABB configuration tools used are compatible versions. Any ideas will be apreciated.

Just for the history, in case someone else faces the same problem, after a lot of cups of coffee we solve the problem and here is the walkthrough:
1)make the configuration in ref configuration tool.
2)download the fupla program and the communication parameters with the configuration tool.
3)import the RCA and the SVG files in Ref542 SCL tool.
4)Do all the rest parameterizations.
5)create the ECM, GUI and CID files. Import the CID in the SCL Tool again and make needed modifications, export it again in the hard disk.
6)create the ICD file.
7)Replace in the ICD the "TEMPLATE" with appropriate values as in CID.
8)Rename the ICD to CID.
9)Download the CID and the ECM to the relay.
10)Import the CID to SICAM PAS and you are ready to go.

Sounds like loads of fun!  Surely you have discussed this with the vendors to determine the problem?

Over many years I have found that industry standard protocols are not so "industry standard" because they allow for those little variances between manufacturers with regard to implementation that they are only standard if you understand everyone's implementation of the protocol.

Have not worked with IEC 61850 yet, but expect it is the same.

Your issue sounds really user friendly.sadeyes

From my experience, it is better to have relays and SCADA from the same manufacturer, especially if the system engineer is new in that protocol. (When i say better, i mean easiest...) If someone can chose i suggest to avoid mixing brands.

Yes, correct, there is a pile of problems when you mix implementations from different vendors. I have been making an interoperability demonstration for a technical fair. SCADA was made by me, and IEDs were 7SJ63 at RET 451 and one our IED.
Between SCADA and IEDs everything worked well. But then again...I made the SCADA,I had a full control over source code. However GOOSE connections worked only between our IED and 7SJ63 and only in one direction. Other IEDs couldn't communicate via GOOSE.

The only way to make a good standard is to lock guys from different vendors in one room and let them out only when everything works perfectly! Otherwise standard is just a set of wishes.
