concrete-wood composite flooring
concrete-wood composite flooring
(OP)
I have heard of wood floors designed with a concrete topping for improved strength; I came across one briefly in my career. I'm not talking about a dead load concrete topping sitting on a wood floor. The topping, bonded to the wood floor, instead carries compressive loads and in turn improves the performance of the flooring system.
However I am having a hard time finding design manuals for this sort of composite system. In particular, for restoration, I would like to, at once, both 1) level a floor with concrete, and 2) improve its strength.
I want to be sure that I can add the concrete and strengthen / stiffen the floor without overloading it.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks Len

RE: concrete-wood composite flooring
There are also 1 ½" thick gypsum concrete floor underlayments for sound proofing floors.
Not familiar with any product that will improves the structural strength.
