lime seperation from oil

(OP)
Wasn't too sure where to post this topic.

We have a couple of applications where lime is being entrained in oil for milling trunnions.  I know the root cause is that we should be ripping these apart and rebuilding seals, but it is just not feasible in the near future.  So, I am looking for thoughts/ ideas on seperation of lime and oil, as we presently do oil changes basically weekly.

I know when I worked in the gas sector we started using a multi cyclone seperation system on compressors to sift out solids and burned oil.  We went from doing an oil change semi-annually to every 3 years, and could have safely went 5.

Any experience witch soemthing like this or any reccommendations?

RE: lime seperation from oil

I would call Racor and discuss your problem.  I see some problems with interfering oil additives.

You also might want to look at a small centrifuge.

To reclaim the base stock all you might do is acidify and separate.

For the future.

You might want to look at this seal from MECCO. We used this type seal in an area where we have very fine organic acid dust.  We use it for dust going both ways.

You might also look at Inpro Seals.
