AutoCAD or Autodesk 3DS max ---> ABAQUS

AutoCAD or Autodesk 3DS max ---> ABAQUS

(OP)
I am trying to perform an analysis in ABAQUS on a unique Steel C Channel. I have draw it up in 3d in Google Sketchup into which I exported it to AutoCAD and Autodesk 3dsMAX. My question is how can I import it into ABAQUS?

I have attempted to do it by importing the "dxf" as a sketch, however it finishes and the screen still remains blank.

I have also tried exporting from Autodesk 3dsMAX into an "IGS" file, however, it wont do it and instead, it exports it into an ".xlo" file which I cant really do anything with.

Thank you.

RE: AutoCAD or Autodesk 3DS max ---> ABAQUS

Would not be simpler to re-draw it in Abaqus/CAE ?

... or try exporting from AutoCAD as .sat and importing as part in ABAQUS.
