We have some API-5L 30" and 36" weld pipe with visual porosity in the weld seams. Was wondering if there was a visual acceptace on the welding of the pipe?

API 5L Section 7.8 Workmanship and Defects does not have a clause for or make mention of porosity.

Section 7.8.14 Other Defects only considers surface imperfections greater than 12,5% wall thickness as defects. A skilled UT tech should be able to tell you the maximum depth at which an ultrasonic response occurs.
