Culvert Rehabilitation

Culvert Rehabilitation

I am responsible for the rehabilitation of several large diameter (42") CMP storm sewers that have rusted out inverts and corrosion above the springline. I am considering a shotcrete lining or some other type of cementitious liner. Does anyone have any experience with this type of rehab method? Any standard procedures or specs?

RE: Culvert Rehabilitation

PE liner might be a better option

RE: Culvert Rehabilitation

cvg is on target with a PE liner.  Or Jack and bore new pipe next to old one and slurry fill the old one.

RE: Culvert Rehabilitation

CIPP will also work for CMP. Most DOT's have a spec for CIPP. ASCE has one also, I think.

Thanks, guys. I will definetly do some research on the PE liner option. I've lined small diameter (8" - 12") sanitary sewers with CIPP before, but, its been at least 8 years since I've done so and back then was under the impression that large diameter CIPP was cost prohibitive. I guess times have changed. Thank you again for the advise!

RE: Culvert Rehabilitation

My only concern would be the structural condition of the existing CMP.  If there is significant loss due to rust, your only option may be to replace it.

RE: Culvert Rehabilitation

with a good lining system, you don't need the original cmp

RE: Culvert Rehabilitation

cvg;
These plastic liners have the same structural nature as the CMP?  Which system do you use the most?  I would like to check out the liners.
