wood species for modular homes
wood species for modular homes
(OP)
Anyone here has an idea if there is a standard or most commonly used wood specie for modular homes in the Southwest (US) region? Kind of like in wood trusses where the preferred wood is spruce pine fir (at least around here) and the fabricator only uses wood with higher sg for special reasons.
The reason for the question is I'm trying to come up with withdrawal value for lag screws. Thanks.

Woodman, you just reinforced what I'm thinking. I actually looked at the NDS for an appropriate wood specie to assume and I came up with the same sg of .36.
I actually called the fabricator of the home and I was told that it was "order specific" and they don't have the archives anymore to find out. I think there's some truth to what woodman said about using the least costly lumber they have on hand. I'm guessing it's a mixture of whatever wood they have and the company would not want that info to get out.
