Highway Programming

(OP)
Hi guys, I am a recent engg graduate, so hopefully you guys can understand where I am coming from.

I am in charge of programming and assigning priorities to the highways within a certain region and I was wondering if there is any simple way to assign a score or rating taking into consideration traffic volumes, pavement surface data, etc.

I am new to this stuff and would like to get a grasp of it. I've done some reading online and it seems like a lot of departments use computer models to come up with programs.

Thanks!

RE: Highway Programming

One place you could start is looking at pavement management systems. Here is an inexpensive one available to municipal highway departments: http://www.t2.unh.edu/software.html#rsms
