CATIA V4 faceted mockup solids

CATIA V4 faceted mockup solids

CATIA V4 faceted mockup solids

(OP)

When you have a faceted mockup solid in a Catia V4 MODEL file and you read it in a Catia V5 workstation, you can see it (in V5 the model) in different visualization modes. A very interesting mode is that you can see the mockup without the facets (triangles). This is, you see the real edges of the part. (The inner edges of the faceted are hidden).
In V4 instead, the mockup solid you see is always faceted and if you try to make a drawing from a view, appear a lot of edges belonging to the triangles.
The question is, does anybody know if there is an option to see the mockup solid in V4 as in V5 (without the faceted edges)?.
This is very important for us because we have to do some views in V4 mode and with the facets in the complex surfaces is very dificult to see anything.
Best regards.

RE: CATIA V4 faceted mockup solids

Hy inigoayo,

unfortunately I can give you an answer, but I would like to ask you, for what do you need SOLIDM in V5?

What are your experiences with solidm in V5?
Is there any truble with these?

regards

Kulle

RE: CATIA V4 faceted mockup solids

I too am having problems witm solidm's in V5. I need to break down a v4.22 assy and make detail drawings in V5. Some of the componants are solid and some are solidm. When I start a new part in V5 and paste the v4.22 Master into V5 I get warnings about the mockup solids and they don't come in. Instead V5 writes a bunch of .cgr files that I can't do anything with. Help !

RE: CATIA V4 faceted mockup solids

Hi n3uih,

You have to convert all the SOLIDM solids into SOLIDE solids and explode all the DITTO's for them to be converted sucessfully into CATIA V5.
Hope this helps,
jakey
