Can anyone point me in the direction of a manufacturer of small diameter (ideally 6 micron), high silica content (>90%) glass fibre?

Thanks for the reply YM.  Unfortunately, the application for which I am looking to use high silica fibres cannot possibly support the cost of quartz fibre.  The fibres are to be used as a high temperature reinforcement for composites (hence the desired small diameter) so I would be more interested in leached E-glass fibres if anyone can direct me towards a suitable supplier.

RE: high silica content glass fibre

You could try S-2 glass.  The Tg is about 750C. www.agy.com
Weavers like BGF and JPS in the Carolinas supply "Lot Glass" based fabrics for leaching.  These are used fro abaltive applications in aerosapce.  www.bgf.com or http://www.jpsglass.com/
