Create/update instance

Create/update instance

Create/update instance

(OP)
Hi,

I'm modifying a model that was originally produced by someone else.  There is one "generic" instance and one other instance.  The generic instance consists of two segments: before and after machining.  The other instance should represent the pre-machining segment.

My assumption was that the other instance was linked to the generic instance, but that doesn't seem to be the case since my changes in the generic instance have not affected the other instance.

My question is: how do I update the other instance or, if that is impossible, create a new instance that only contains the pre-machining segment of the generic instance?

RE: Create/update instance

Not an easy one to explain...

The features in the instance could be turned off, so if you change them in the generic, they will not update in the instance.

If you know how to adjust the family tables you can go into the generic and turn all of the features back on.

If you don't know how to change the family tables, you need to look for a tutorial.

Thank you for mentioning the term: Family Table!  Things were almost straight forward after I knew what to look for.
