Is there a file where the program saves the toolbar set-ups and defaults etc, I've got a new computer and i want to transfer the set-up without doing it all over again

RE: changing machines

Hello,

Most of the settings of Solid Edge are stored in the Windows Registry.

In order to export/ Import these settings, you can go to regedit then browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unigraphics Solutions\Solid Edge\
Right clic on Version XX (where XX is your current SE version)
Choose Export and save a .reg in your computer.
You can restore this reg file by double clicking on it. Take care with this tip, sometimes, if your new computer has a different name or username, some options can be in the wrong location.

thought it'd be a bit easier than that, so there's nothing in a user directory of anything like that?

RE: changing machines

we do screen-shots of every settings page in solid edge and print them out. Then we recreate them on the new machine or upgrade. This is one of the things that is a compromise in SE.

RE: changing machines

Not tool bars but some other settings may be in the solid edge program files such as parts list settings, standard callouts etc.  Of course, some of these can be put on the server, like templates typically are.

We have a procedure we update for each new release telling people how to do this part, but not the toolbar stuff in reg-edit.

RE: changing machines

By now there really should be a built-in way of saving settings from one version to another, from one user to another and from one machine to another.
It's always been a pain and it's something that Siemens should address.
