When to allow double tee placement on CMU

When to allow double tee placement on CMU

(OP)
Hey guys, Does anyone have any guidance on when double tees may be placed on CMU? Our office rule of thumb is 2 weeks or when grout reaches 75% of f'c. Contractor and precaster are pushing for sooner. Thanks.

RE: When to allow double tee placement on CMU

I would wait the two weeks.  If their 7 day cylinder break is adequate that would be the only time when I would allow them to load the walls sooner.  Keep in mind if they were setting bar joist it probably wouldn't be a big deal.  But with heavy double tee loads I'd play it conservative.  By giving them the option to show you a good 7 day break you are showing that you are willing to work with them.  I wouldn't go any farther than that.

Agree with S2...let the contractor bitch about it...it's what they do well.
