RE: UG and VPN lic

windwee,

I'm not aware there's anything specific you need to do. Just point the UGII_LICENSE_FILE variable to the server in Germany.

Of course, there may be some legal issues in sharing across continents. That would be something you'd need to clarify with Siemens.

RE: UG and VPN lic

The VPN has to allow your IP address to see their IP address and the port that the license is server on (usually 27000 or 28000) all the time. If it is verifying traffic for each connection then it will most likely time out causing you problems. Tell 'em to keep the port OPEN. It isn't just one connection to get a license it is whenever you change applications within NX and on a regular basis during sessions that the license needs to be visible.

Yes, there is a restriction on the licensing of using a license outside of the country in which it was issued for! You do need to pay for an upgrade to an international license. I ran into this issue where I used to work and we had sites in the USA, India and Germany. I had to restrict access to the license server to only the USA site.

We have NO control over this as the sale and distribution of the software products from Siemens PLM must comply with the export control regulations as imposed by the federal government.
