NEGATIVE CASTER
NEGATIVE CASTER
(OP)
I´ve been working on a new front suspension for our 1250 kg, rear wheel drive, 350 hp, no power steering race car, and found out that the weight transfer on cornering is great when i use negative caster. But this produces a great deal of instability due to the caster trail that results, and also i found out that i will need more negative camber. Is something i can do before starting to design a new upright?, and then what should i take into account to use negative caster?

RE: NEGATIVE CASTER
As your experience suggests, negative caster becomes positive camber as you add steering lock. Most times I think a more positive caster setting is desirable so that static camber doesn't have to be as extreme (consider how the front tires become inclined during braking).
