(OP)
Hi, anyone have any experience doing HDPE hydro testing do b31.3?
We were testing to ASTM and NFPA for firewater lines but one line is above ground and client requests a b31.3 test. I am unfirmilor with the acceptance criteria. I know all joint are to be visually inspected to ensure no leaks are present but am uncertain on items such as;
 is the hold time the same for HDPE as it is for Steel pipe
is there a pressure drop allowance?
 Is makeup water allowed?

Any input would be greatly appreciated

 thanks

RE: hdpe b31.3 hydro test

I think you can use

chapter VII nonmetallic piping

A345.4 hydrostatic leak test
(b) thermoplastic piping
