Creating a helix in NXSheetmetal (NX 5.0)

Creating a helix in NXSheetmetal (NX 5.0)

(OP)
Hi all,

I am trying to model a helix that is formed out of 3/8" thick sheet steel on a press type form die.  I would like to model this within NXSheetmetal and be able to see the flat pattern.  Is this possible?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Lurks

Could you provide at least a 'picture' of what this sheetmetal part might look like?

This part it way beyond what NX Sheet Metal was designed to accommodate.  You will need to use something the Composite module where you can apply 'finite element' techniques to flatten a shape like this.
