Decal or any other alternative

Decal or any other alternative

Decal or any other alternative

(OP)

I have a assembly drawing of a product. I need to create a view to show few certification / Instruction labels.

I have considered to broken out section thru the assly untill
I could see the labels. I have more than 3 labels that I have to show sticking on the face of a part.

I plan to use decal, but decal is not available at the assly level. Its just at part level. What are the different ways to do this.

Any suggestions

Thanks

RE: Decal or any other alternative

You should be able to apply decals at the assy level.  Are you saying that you don't have the option?

Yes. Its is greyed out. We cant apply decal to assly.

RE: Decal or any other alternative

The Decal function is very nice, however it is only a graphical representation of a real element. (eg. A label or silk-screen)

A Decal doesn't fit the reality of a label or even ink/paint ... it has no thickness. Decals are not listed in a BOM, whereas a label could/should be.

Does your Decal have to be applied across two or more parts in the assy?
Could you apply the Decal to a thin part to represent an actual label, and insert that into the assy?

Thats exactly how I have it now. I have applied decal to a thin flat part and insert that part into assly.

But the actual part is not flat, its contoured surface to which the label need to go on.

I wish, there was a assly level Wrap command or a Decal was available. This can be a visual rep, because, the I can manage the BOM by a virtual part.

RE: Decal or any other alternative

In SW2010, a Wrap feature can be projected onto multiple faces.
