Definition of repair

(OP)
Dear all, do you know where I can find the definition of "repair work" according to ASME code?

On a vessel (after PWHT) due to a fabrication mistake I have to remove up to 3 mm of material from the raised face of a 10" flange, is this considered a repair work according the ASME code?

after the machining work do you suggest to repeat the UT of the flange?

PS vessel is not U stamped

Thanks in advance and best regards

RE: Definition of repair

There is no formal definition of repair work type in ASME B&PV Code. You have either base material or weld defects along with misalignment or tolerance problems which are dealt with by welding or other forms of re-work.

The above are called conformances and should be dealt with according to the Certificate Holder's QA program.

No. I would suggest a surface LPT of the machined surface.
