Find the mass of a model

Find the mass of a model

Find the mass of a model

(OP)
Hello,

Is there anyway for SAP to give me the total mass of my model?

Thanks

RE: Find the mass of a model

hello
you can get the mass of the model by creeting the combination wich is already introduced in the mass source then go to the display tables select the base reactions and select your combination for exemple comb1=DEAD+0.25live then you can have your mass with the global FZ divided  by the gravity because FZ is a force .
sorry for my english.

RE: Find the mass of a model

kabitchovitch, your english is fine

I think sap2000 dumps masses at joints, no matter how you define or input them, distributed or point or element default weight.

So you may  use display tables(or print tables) to determine total mass.

Go to display tables-analysis results- Joint outputs-joint masses to see masses at each joint. Then  transfer them to excel and add them up.

or print then using print tables and follow the same order of selection

Not a feature I often use but I just tried a small model and it worked.

respect

thanks IJR
I  had tried the option of joint assembled mass then i had the same resuts with what i had donne  by the base reactions
thank you very much .

RE: Find the mass of a model

Is there a feature in SAP2000 that will give you the overall center of gravity of a model that is made up of several members of varying materials if you have taken the time to properly model each member and place the mass at the respective center of gravity of each member?
