2D wind flow over cylinder
2D wind flow over cylinder
(OP)
Hi
I made a simple 2D model of cylinder to verify coefficients of pressure according to Eurocode EN1991-1-4.
In this code the coefficients of pressure are plotted for Reynolds number 10000000 what fits to wind velocity 21.71m/s with diameter of cylinder 4m.
So I made a 2D model which fits to the code perfectly. Then I changed velocity to 50m/s and diameter of cylinder to 6.35m and started analysis again, but results were absolutelly not changed ! What is wrong ?

RE: 2D wind flow over cylinder
I'm not a "fluid-dynamist", but as far as you don't alter the fluid regime, why should the adimensionalized pressure coefficients vary? You have a "profile" which is in similitude with himself, and a fluid field in similitude with himself, so the Cp would be the same, wouldn't they?
If you drop to a fluid regime under/over certain Re, then things would change, provided you have instructed the solver to take that into account: if you inadvertedly set it to use "laminar only" fluid model, for example, or things like that.
Hope it can help...
