initial dwg/boder setup

initial dwg/boder setup

initial dwg/boder setup

(OP)
Can anyone point me to some documentation on how to create drawings with company border/title blocks. I don't beleive that our current setup was done properly and as a result you can not change drawing size (say from a b-size to c-size) in mid stream without starting a new dwg and copy/paste geometry from one dwg to another. The problem with this method is that the views lose their links with each other. I know that in other cad packages, if set up correctly, dwg sizes can be changed mid stream by simply changing the sheet size. We have no technical support in this area so I need help!

Thanks,
Mike

RE: initial dwg/boder setup

You do not want to cut & paste views into another dwg for the reason you stated: lost links.

You could cut and paste the desired drawing boarder into the dwg you are working on.

We took the included CATIA Dwg Boarder script and revised it to suit our company.

The dwg boarder should be placed into the sheet background.
You can install or resize the boarder via the included CATIA dwg boarder script.

There are supposed to be better or more robust scripts out there, and, it would appear that different drawing boarder sizes could be catalog items. We don't have access to those methods.

RE: initial dwg/boder setup

As HGMorgan said, a script is one on the best ways to handle drawing borders. See the sample "Frame and Titleblock" scripts that are included with CATIA.

Typically, to change the paper size, use File + Page Setup and choose the new paper size. Then, switch to the Background, and run the Frame & Titleblock utility to resize the border.

RE: initial dwg/boder setup

If you don't have somebody to modify the original macro to fit your needs, you can save your drawing sheets with your border and drawing table in a catalog, in order to insert them in a new page defined as Jackk said (or use Right click mouse on sheet - Properties - go to Format and change it).

Fernando
