Rack & Pinion

Rack & Pinion

Rack & Pinion

(OP)
Hello,
I am interested to know if it is possible to simulate the operation of a rack & pinion in Pro/E (foundation), and what would be the procedure?
                 Thanks,
                    Tim

RE: Rack & Pinion

There has been no gear definitions within Mechanism design so far... but with synchronized drivers (kinematics)and/or compliant cams, you can do it !

cheers

Philippe

RE: Rack & Pinion

Your best bet would be to use skeleton models that have a combination of datum curves. But are you looking at the actual gear shapes or just the linkage mechanics?

Let me know if you need more info.
