Fine/Coarse Adjustment of Plate

Fine/Coarse Adjustment of Plate

Fine/Coarse Adjustment of Plate

(OP)
Hello,

I am looking for ways of moving a plate in an axial direction.  There is a secondary plate that I want to move rotationally as well.  There needs to be fine adjustment available so that a person can rotate the plate 1-2 degrees and lock in the location of the plate.  The same holds true for the axial translation.  I was thinking possibly a knob, worm gear, cam assembly would be the answer but wanted to get some more feedback.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi kevc70

Can you upload a pic or drawing of your arrangement, difficult to advise on the info you have given us.

Actually this is for an optics system..........there are projection and focusing lenses within these plates and I would like to rotate and/or move these plates axially.  I was looking at having a knob assembly threaded into both sides of the plate that will move the plate axially.  the same would hold true for the rotation requirement.  This would potentially give the fine adjustment, but looking for other ideas.

Thanks,

Kevin

One way:  Use a screw to push the table.  The other end of the table is spring loaded.  Mount a second finer pitched screw inside the first.

would a fine pitch screw adjuster be the equivalent of what you are suggesting......similar to what is used on micrometers?  these might do the trick for axial translation but not sure about rotational adjustment.

thanks,

Nanopositioning devices.

Here are some differential screw adjusters. You can get most any accuracy you desire. Look around.

Here is a goniometer that maybe of interest. They are others on the market that maybe less expensive.
