barrel threads for hydraulic cylinders

i would like to know if there is a standard thread series for internal/external metric hydraulic cylinder barrels with corresponding bore size for threaded end caps -
i have a copy of internal/external barrel threads in inch sizes but cannot find anything on metric threads - any help would be apprecaited - thank you

hello again & thank you for the reply - i have there catalog & have contacted them - they strictly deal in imperial parts - i am still looking - thank you again

RE: barrel threads for hydraulic cylinders

Well that was one of my SWAG'S that was wrong.
I've haven't bought any components, only some rod but just assumed they knew something about metric components as they state, call if you need metric.
I also assumed that they would know about metric from all the heavy equipment working around here is from Japan.
This will have to go in my loser's column.

RE: barrel threads for hydraulic cylinders

Why not consult them for specification of a particular imperial thread to suit your size, and then convert to metric and adjust the TPI to the nearest listed modulii?

For example, 1.000 - 8 UNC-2G may translate nicely to a M25 X 1.5 6H equivalent.  Then crank out the mathematics to ensure fracture mechanics are within acceptable limits given your constraints under loading.

Seems like a reasonable academic approach?

RE: barrel threads for hydraulic cylinders

I'm not sure there is such thing as a standard metric thread. Each country and manufacture seem to choose a diameter and pitch out of the air.

We use 12 threads per inch on threads from 2" to 5" for most fluid power applications. If the cylinder wall thickness is thin use a finer thread, if wall is thicker use a coarser thread. For head glands that screw in use acme threads, the pitch will be determined by the wall thickness.
