give a cutout a different color?

I have made a 2mm cut out in a part and would like to make this "ingravement" in a different color than the part. How do I do this?

RE: give a cutout a different color?

Hello,

You can use the part painter.  You can select a different color and apply it to a face, a feature, all features of a certain type, a body or everything.  It is under the format menu if you are on a release prior to ST. It's a pretty handy tool.

thanks!
It works when I am in the part mode but when I switch back to assemble mode and render the object, the whole part is of the same color. Any solution for this?

RE: give a cutout a different color?

In assembly click the part then in the drop-down box you can select different colours. Select the option "Use Part Style"
