Full faced flange calculation

Full faced flange calculation

Full faced flange calculation

(OP)
Does anyone to know how the best approach to calculate the full faced flange thickness, due this is outside of ASME  scope. I need to calculate a wide range of ND carbon steel flanges like 28",36",48",56" and 60", under full vacuum design pressure.

Thanks in advance

Orama

RE: Full faced flange calculation

Look in the site below: there are calculation sheets according to BS5500 for soft gasket full faced flanges and according to ASME VIII App.Y for metal to metal contact.
Everything of course to be taken 'as is'!

RE: Full faced flange calculation

The reference I'm most familiar with is:

"Design of Flanges for Full Face Gasktets, Bulletin #45" from Taylor Forge & Pipe works.  It is out of print and somewhat hard to find.

RE: Full faced flange calculation

I can send a suggested working form for a full face flange to British Standard PD5500.  It’s a very simple method that requires huge bolts, which I have never really understood, but it works. It’s for low pressure flanges working below 150PSI.

RE: Full faced flange calculation

The australian standard AS1210 has a method which also gives recomendations for y and m for full face gaskets.
