Air Drying of Soils
Air Drying of Soils
(OP)
I am curious as to whether anyone has seen any documentation or testing which indicates what temperature soil can be air-dried prior to placing and recompacting. In my experience in New England, it can only be done in Summer months (> 60 deg. F). I know there are lots of other factors (i.e., rainfall, humidity, % of fines, etc.), but I wonder if there is any documentation of what people have seen.

RE: Air Drying of Soils
It also depends on how much the contractor wants to work the material, as well. Keep turning it over, and it will help it dry.
