Variable Steam Demand

Variable Steam Demand

Variable Steam Demand

(OP)
Our facility's steam demand is variable; dependant on process requirements.  We are currently in the process of removing a constant load from the system and putting it on hot water.  Thus, when not in heating season, there will be NO constant steam demand.

I am interested in finding out what kind of things can be done to maximize the efficieny of our steam system for this type of variable demand profile.  Can anyone provide any resources that would help me better understand what can be done?

RE: Variable Steam Demand

assuming the plant require a constant steam pressure regardless of load, some items may be variable speed fans,  a small feedwater pump ( 25 % capacity) in parrallel with the main pump, wide turndown burners with improved fluegas O2 monitoring.
