thread238-68762: KKS power station designation system
I started way back  in 1958 with the KS "system" from Siemens and then later in 1966 from BBC. This only had two letters for the equipment name, and then, upgraded in 1981 to KKS. I think it is the most complete and frendliest nomenclature system, though not easy.
I will need to rumage through my garage to find the guidebook (probably in German), and an application from ABB for a particular plant in South America. If I do, I will let you guys know. It nay take several weeks.

KKS code is used widely in Europe by Utilities and Alstom.
