RE: RING JOINT GASKET/FLANGES

I can probably help.  Are you looking for free advice or paid services?

Oh - and next time lay off the ALL CAPS.  There's no need to shout.

Hi

Is it possible a free advice?

RE: RING JOINT GASKET/FLANGES

Possible - ask your question.  Please make your question as specific as possible.  If your question involves more than what can be given for free - we will let you know.

HI

We did  an oval  transition ring R55/R51,  in order to adjust  flanges 10"ANSI 2500 A 694 F60, with different  groove sizes.  In the valve side the flange groove is OK,  but in the piping side the groove is below the specs . The groove  size  is  13/16"  , but the same pitch diameter.
Also we performed a hydrotest for this job at a 5,860 psi, by 12 hours, and it was OK,  but I need to be sure under normal operation conditions  If I will not have problems with this  transition ring.  The  diameter of the stud bolts  are 2 1/2" and the torque is 4,400 pounds-feet.
Thanks is advance for your cooperation,  I am enclosing a drawing of  the flange and ring.

RE: RING JOINT GASKET/FLANGES

You may or may not have a problem, depending on the operation of the flange.  For example, the operating and design conditions, including pressure AND temperature, external bending moments from attached piping and attached piping restrained free thermal expansion.

If you want someone to do the analysis for you, you will have to pay a consultant for that.
