Boiler question boiler >15 psig Controls testing

Boiler question boiler >15 psig Controls testing

(OP)
I have a couple of small electic boilers that operate around 75 psig, I am trying to set up the maintenance program on the boilers and cannot find out what the federal requirements are on them.  The facility I am at is only regulated by the federal govenment (no state requirements).  this boiler has 2 high pressure limit switches and I am trying to figure out how often they need to be tested and what different was are allowed to test them.  I tried looking at the boiler standards on the internet, but I was not sure what code book to buy.  These boilers are stationary and supply steam to an industrial process.  What standard should I be looking at?  how often should they be tested.

Thanks in advance for any direction you can give me.

If you're only regulated by the federal government, then the place to go for requirements is the Code of Federal Regulations:  http://www.gpoaccess.gov/cfr/index.html.

I have looked in there and cannot find any requirements to do routine maintenance.

I can only speak for my industry:  for nuclear applications, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, in 10 CFR 50.55(a) invokes the ASME Code for pressure vessels.

Maintenance activities are covered under the ASME Code for Operation and Maintenance of Nuclear Power Plants.

You would need to find the applicable federal code and then read through it to find out if there is something that applies to you.
