How to locate Original copy in PDM (search)

How to locate Original copy in PDM (search)

How to locate Original copy in PDM (search)

(OP)
I am using Solidworks Office Professional 2007.

When I am searching thru PDM, I put in the number or name in my search.  When I hit search, I get the first instance, which may be just a link (used in).  Without hitting search over and over. Is there a way to just go to the main copy? A file may be use in numerous location and it is a bit tedious.

Thanks

RE: How to locate Original copy in PDM (search)

Go to the Full or Advanced search and you can eliminate links, or maybe you can do that in the simplified as well.  Either way there should be an option to omit links.  Wish I could be more helpful but I haven't used PDM Workgroups in awhile.

GREAT.....thanks Nomlaser & DekkerDesign...

OR...just use Generate Report button on the same screen as your quick search window.  It pulls up all instances at one time.

It's slower if you only want to find the first instance, but faster if you want to find any more than that.

Matt,

Based on his OP it looks like he is looking for the project that the main file is in. Though to be fair, most, if not all, operations that you can perform on a file in PDM can be done on a link as well as the main copy.

Try Generate Report, I think you'll like it. :)  It's going to give you exactly what you are looking for.  I misspoke when I said "all instances".  What I meant was that it will find all instances of your search criteria.  It only shows the original copy in the report.
