Anyone out there familiar with these types of panels.  They were extensively used in our geo. area thru the 60's and 70's as roof panels, long and short span.  Particularily interested in a panel with the name of 'Siporex'.  Anyone that may have old product technical information or experience with these panels, we would be greatly interested in communicating with you.  Thanks.

RE: LWT. Autoclaved Pre-cast Conc. Panels.

Dear Steve111,

I have copies of technical notes produced by Costain Concrete Co. Ltd in the 1960's that include load span tables in imperial units for their roof and floor slabs.  I also have copies of technical literature produced by the  Aerated Concrete Ltd who appear to have taken over the Siporex name in the late 1970's.  There are metric load span tables within the information.

One advantage of not having tidied up the office for some time.  Are you UK based?  If so, I might be able to get a copy of the literature for you.

The main problem I have encountered with these units in existing strucures is excessive deflection of roof slab units where water has leaked through the roof finishes.  The aerated concrete can absorb a large ammount of water which can significasntly increase the weight supported.
