how to simulate this model

how to simulate this model

how to simulate this model

(OP)
hai everybody,

this is thom. i am a beginner to autodesk inventor. i am trying to simulate a model which converts circular motion to elliptical motion (just like elliptical exercise machine...same concept) but i am stuck at simulation. first of all i am not sure how to insert joints

can someone plzz help me

i am also attaching the zip file. the shaft is connected to the circular disc on the backside. force is applied at the shaft. as the disc rotates, the rod connected to the disc should move in elliptical motion while sliding on the base. can someone help me how to simulate the model

many thanks,

thom

RE: how to simulate this model

I would highly suggest you work through the tutorials included with Inventor. If you are on 2010 with the ribbon UI simply go to the "Get Started" tab and hit the tutorials button then go to Level 3- Specific Interest and run the tutorials for Dymanic Simulation.
depending on what you want to simulate you can even just move the model in the assembly environment to see your motion if you have constrained the model properly or drive a single constraint which will move your model automatically.
