H-20 vs H-25 Loading for HDPE Pipe

H-20 vs H-25 Loading for HDPE Pipe

H-20 vs H-25 Loading for HDPE Pipe

(OP)
Is H-25 a more severe loading specification than H-20? I do not have an AASTO Standards, but I have a design criteria of pipe rated at H-20 loading or greater for a ROW cossing.

ADS puts out a backfill table for H-25 but I need to convert that to a single axle load at a certain backfill depth.

RE: H-20 vs H-25 Loading for HDPE Pipe

HS-20 three axles 4 Tons-16 Tons-16 Tons (wheel loads are one half of the axle loads)

HS-25 three axles 5 Tons-20 Tons-20 Ton (wheel loads are one half of the axle loads)

RE: H-20 vs H-25 Loading for HDPE Pipe

Loads are based on dual wheels, so actual wheel loads are 1/4 of axle load except for the front axle which is 1/2 of axle load.  Depending on analysis technique and pavement type, you can either combine the duals or treat them separately.  Little if any difference for bridge (rigid pavement) analysis.
