How does one force Blocks to Update?

How does one force Blocks to Update?

How does one force Blocks to Update?

(OP)
We have drawing templates here that have linked blocks embedded in the format. After the blocks are updated, the formats still show up incorrectly; how do I force the blocks to update?

Thanks for your time,
KLINE

RE: How does one force Blocks to Update?

The blocks won't update, as they are basically a template in and of themselves. You'll need to reinsert the block into the template in question.

Thanks Joe, could you tell me how I should go about saving Titleblocks then? I was under the impression that putting Blocks into Templates was the way to go. This appears to not be the case.

Here is my current setup:
Blocks with an external file link put on the format side of the drawing. Switch back to edit sheet, save sheet format, and save Template.

This all works great for new files, but I need files (when updated) to reference the latest titleblock. How should I change my current setup to accomplish this.

Regards,
KLINE

RE: How does one force Blocks to Update?

Are the blocks placed onto the format individually or are they in a folder on a server for 'file explorer' to reference?
Changing the blocks on the server should update when the drawing is opened or you rebuild.

RE: How does one force Blocks to Update?

Have you tried re-loading the sheet format from the Properties dialogue box?

-or-

Changing to another sheet format, and then back again?

Hey Chris and Cor, The Blocks (Formats, and Templates) are all in the same shared folder on a server. The Blocks (Formats) do update when a drawing is opened or rebuilt. I was trying to figure out how to get it to update at the block level which was incorrect. Toggling the format via properties does the trick!

Thanks,
KLINE
