Obtaining a section view from a broken view in NX5

Obtaining a section view from a broken view in NX5

Obtaining a section view from a broken view in NX5

(OP)
I am trying to obtain a section view from a broken view.  It is telling me that I have chosen an invalid view.  Am I trying to do something that is not able to be done?

Thanks in advance,

Lurks

RE: Obtaining a section view from a broken view in NX5

I've certainly never been able to this in NX4 and I think the same goes for NX5, I'm sure John will clarify this for you.

Best regards

RE: Obtaining a section view from a broken view in NX5

This is a known bug.  You can create the section view from a non-broken view which could be from another drawing sheet and moved to your current drawing.

Running cad straight out of the box is OK but, a system tuned with application software is the best way to increase productivity.

RE: Obtaining a section view from a broken view in NX5

I'm not sure that this could be considered a 'bug' since I suspect that creating an actual section view from an existing broken view is NOT something that is supported by any of the various Drafting Standards.

I am not sure what drafting standard that John is referring to that discourages a section of a view that is broken.
See attachment for details.  Section view created by taking a section cut on a reference drawing sheet and moving it to the current drawing.

I didn't say that there was a Standard which 'discouraged' it, but rather I just said I wasn't sure if this was 'supported' by any standard.  Granted, this might seem like a minor point, but our philosophy is to support what the standards explicitly describe, and not assume that if something is not mentioned that it's automatically included.
