Inland Steel Deck - Vintage 1962

Inland Steel Deck - Vintage 1962

Inland Steel Deck - Vintage 1962

(OP)
I am working on an existing steel framed building (design drawings dated 1962) where two different deck systems are listed on the drawings as"

"Inland Deck BB 16-16" - Multiple span with beams at 10'-0" on center.  Per details, the deck is 3" with either 2" or 2-1/2" concrete
"Inland Deck BC 12-12" - Single span of 20'.  Per details, the deck is 6" with 2" or 2-1/2" concrete.

I have been unable to locate any information on the Inland deck.  Does anyone have any contacts/old manuals they would be willing to share or anything else that would be helpful in assisting in verifying the existing system from a capacity and weight standpoint?

thanks
pat

Is that Inland, or Inland-Ryerson?

Have you tried the Steel Deck Institute?

The plans indicate Inland but I believe it is synomonous with Inland-Ryerson.

I contacted SDI.  They did not have anything on hand but were going to check with their members to see if they can find anything.

We have contacted local fabricators and deck suppliers to no avail.

RE: Inland Steel Deck - Vintage 1962

From ICBO Report #1092 dated May 1971:
Properties of BB 16-16 I=2.53 in^4/ft. S=1.516 in^3/ft.
There's no properties of BC 12-12.  It must of been a special order. I suspect it's made by welding two pieces of 12 ga "B" deck together to make a 3 inch thick piece.  One piece of 12 ga. "B" deck has an I of .795 in^4/ft and S of .886 in^3/ft.  Maybe you can calculate the properties from that.
