Zlevel 5 axis
Zlevel 5 axis
(OP)
Hi,
How to machine a negative angle face using zlevel 5axis under mill multi axis type. I tried it but not getting any tool path. I use a -5 degree with respect to vertical. Is any setting required for undercut machining? I dont find the undercut option. Thanks for any help.

RE: Zlevel 5 axis
You probably can do it, however there are better options.
"zlevel 5 axis" is designed to keep the shank of the cutter away from the wall as it cuts.
I think you will be better served choosing another method.
I included a file with some examples.
If it's simply milling a flat wall of a dovetail, you can use "planer mill"

Like Jaydenn said if it's a fixed axis thing use Planer. The next choice would be Surface Contour/Profile with some tweaking. The final choice is of course the Swiss army knife - SeqMill.

RE: Zlevel 5 axis
I had the impression that Zlevel 5 axis can tilt the cutter and machine closed undercut walls.
I searched through the documentation, no where it has been mentioned. BTW I am new to 5 axis. Any example parts regarding 5 axis other than CAST availble here? Thanks again.
